Hong Kong, 20-23 September 2007. The Annual International Board of Directors (IBD) Meeting for The First Time. We Welcome Mensa Members From All Over The World to Join the Party.
The figures speak for themselves: Hong Kong is one of the 10 most popular tourist destinations in the world with more than 25 million visitors in 2006, and is the only single city destination among the world's Top 15.
What makes Hong Kong so special is its unique history as a former colonial outpost, and its amazing contrasts of Eastern and Western cultures. Its a place where modern skyscrapers stand side-by-side with historic temples, where trendy lifestyle vies with age-old Chinese festivals and traditions, and where the city bustle gives way to some stunning natural scenery – all within an amazingly compact space.
The city's breathtaking skyline fronting Victoria Harbour is well recognised worldwide, as is its reputation for top-class shopping and dining, but what may not be so well known is that Hong Kong also has some wonderful hiking trails, secluded beaches and a huge diversity of flora, fauna and protected wetlands to explore. There are also numerous family attractions including Hong Kong Disneyland and the ever-popular Ocean Park.
Hong Kong is a very safe and visitor-friendly destination, too: English is widely spoken and it's very easy to get around on your own, on the city's cheap, efficient and comfortable public transport system.
The only problem you're likely to have is finding the time to pack everything in! Do try to extend your stay if possible, because four days is never enough in this remarkable city.
